Daka student loan

Loans during studies at the home university (UPB)

Daka grants student loans up to a maximum amount of 12,000 euros per student. Here are a few key facts:

  • The loan is usually paid out in monthly instalments and the funding rate can be up to 1,000 euros per month.
  • Within the framework of the loan guidelines, you can flexibly organise the loan amount and the monthly funding amount according to your needs.
  • Up to the maximum amount of funding, it is also possible to split the loan between the Bachelor's and the subsequent Master's degree programme if required.

Loans specifically for the semester abroad

In addition to its student loans, the Darlehenskasse der Studierendenwerke (Daka) also grants loans specifically for semesters abroad.

  • The loan can help you to finance the semester abroad in general. Host universities or visa authorities may require you to show financial guarantees (deposits) - the loan can also be used for this. If you are applying for scholarships but have not yet been accepted, the loan can bridge the transition period or step in if necessary.
  • Students can apply to Daka for a maximum loan amount of up to 6,000 euros for their semester abroad via their local student services organisation. The amount of the loan depends on individual requirements.
  • The loan is paid out in one lump sum.
  • Repayment usually begins twelve months after the end of the semester abroad, but can also be postponed further in justified cases. No interest is charged on Daka loans; only a one-off fee of 5% of the loan amount is charged to cover administrative costs. The loan can also be repaid early in larger instalments or in full by means of a special repayment.
